Sixth District Medical Society Meeting and Social Highlights

Posted 6/20/19 (Thu)

On Tuesday, the Sixth District Medical Society held its spring meeting in a location that can't be beat - Bismarck's new First International Bank Building. The business meeting and presentation took place on the second floor and dinner was served outdoors on the roof top, giving diners an expansive city-wide view.

The business meeting included the election of Dr. Joan Connell to serve as a Sixth District Councillor. Newly elected Dr. Connell joins Dr. Todd Schaffer in representing the Sixth District Society as Councillors on the NDMA Council.

In addition, since the positions of AMA Delegate and Alternate Delegate have reached the end of the two-year term, members once again nominated Dr. Shari Orser to serve as AMA delegate and Dr. Mike Booth as alternate delegate. Delegates are allowed to serve up to three two-year terms for each position.

AMA House of Delegates serve an important role as a communications and policy link between the AMA and physicians and are a key source of information on activities, programs and policies of the AMA.

NDMA is accepting nominations from all districts for NDMA officer positions. This year, voting will be conducted electronically. NDMA will keep the membership posted on when the voting process will take place.

The business meeting was followed by a wellness presentation conducted by Melanie Carvell on mindfulness. She shared quick ideas on how to unwind and meditate as a means to combating physician burnout.

NDMA extends a sincere thank you to all those that participated!
