Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Threshold Alert Changes to Levels of Three

Posted 9/19/17 (Tue)

To help curb opioid and other controlled substance misuse, the North Dakota Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Advisory Committee chose to reduce the threshold alert level from levels of six to levels of three.

Beginning Sept. 11, prescribers are alerted on patients who see THREE or more prescribers, and/or THREE or more dispensers in a THREE- month time period.

Prescribers have indicated that the six month window was too long to impact effective action. This change reduces the large window so that prescribers are seeing reports on more recently seen patients.
