J-1 Visa Holder Informational Session Hosted by First District

On October 17, NDMA First District in Fargo held a gathering of J-1 Visa holders to help answer questions about the J-1 Visa Waiver Process and promote networking.

Special guest speakers were North Dakota State Health Officer Dr. Nizar Wehbi and Center for Rural Health Workforce Specialist Stacy Kusler.


Dr. Dinesh Bande, an advocate for helping others navigate the J-1 Visa process, encourages attendees to stay connected and reach out to help others. Stacy Kusler gave an in-depth review of what it takes to apply and process for a waiver.

 

State Health Officer Dr. Nizar Wehbi stressed the importance of addressing the health care workforce shortage in North Dakota. Helping physicians navigate the J-1 Visa process can make a difference.   Dr. Hussam Almasri, a J-1 Visa holder with origins in Syria, shared his story of the difficulties he encountered navigating hurdles to be approved through the J-1 visa process. He was grateful for the efforts of Dr. Bande and grateful to be able to be in North Dakota.
