Posted 9/26/17 (Tue)

CHI St. Alexius Health is proud to offer “Stop the Bleed”, a bleeding control basics class on Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm in the Technology & Education Center. This course will give participants general knowledge and resources to provide lifesaving care when seconds count.

This course will cover:
♦ How to quickly identify bleeding and apply rapid treatment
♦ Proper use of safe and effective hemostatic dressings
♦ Proper use of effective tourniquets

Stop the Bleed" is a nationwide campaign aimed at teaching everyone how to stop bleeding and save lives in an emergency. No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so it is important to quickly stop blood loss. Armed with a little knowledge, a family member, coworker or even a bystander can be the difference between life and death.

The class is open to the public and is presented by Derek Kane, MD, Howard Walth, RN, and the Bismarck-Mandan EMS Professionals. Registration is not required. CHI St. Alexius Health’s Technology & Education Center is located at 1310 East Main, Bismarck.
