2009 Annual Meeting
The 122nd Annual Meeting of the NDMA House of Delegates concluded its business Friday, September 25, electing new officers and adopting resolutions including a resolution expressing physician views on national health system reform. Newly-elected NDMA officers are Kimberly T. Krohn of Minot, President; A. Michael Booth of Bismarck, Vice President and Board Chair; Steven P. Strinden of Fargo, Secretary-Treasurer; and Debra A. Geier of Jamestown, Speaker of the House. Robert A. Thompson will continue to serve as NDMA’s Immediate Past President. Gaylord J. Kavlie of Bismarck serves as NDMA's AMA Delegate and Robert W. Beattie serves as our AMA Alternate Delegate.
At the annual awards dinner, Timothy J. Mahoney of Fargo received the NDMA Physician Community and Professional Services Award and Patrick Traynor of Dakota Medical Foundation received the NDMA Friend of Medicine Award.

Resolution 2: State Health Information Technology Plan
Resolution 3: Workers Compensation Coverage for Workers with Preexisting Degenerative Conditions
Resolution 4: Cost and Availability of Health Insurance Coverage and Unmet Health Care Needs
Resolution 5: Access to Medically-Based Psychiatric Services in North Dakota
Resolution 6: Supportive Services for Pregnant Minors
Resolution 7: Medication Preauthorizations: Medicare Part D and Uniform Preauthorization Form
Resolution 8: Increase in the Number of Family Medicine Residency Positions
Resolution 9: Incentives and Disincentives for the Retention of North Dakota-Trained Residents
Resolution 10: Expand J-1 Waiver Opportunities in North Dakota
Resolution 11: State Tobacco Prevention and Control Program
In addition to the House business of medicine, Governor John Hoeven spoke at the NDMA luncheon on Friday regarding health care reform, improved Medicaid physician payments, health information technology and other topics. The House heard from Senator Kent Conrad and Congressman Earl Pomeroy on the status of health system reform via electronic means during its House sessions. Excellent presentations were heard by attendees on physician leadership in North Dakota and the impacts of generational change on the practice of medicine.
